Independent Boutiques - current research has lead me to visit many local independents, here are reviews of some favourites.

I stumbled upon this absolute gem of a shop up on the rows in Watergate Street quite unexpectedly during my research trip to Chester.  Aliz Vintage was staffed by its owners who were enthusiastic, knowledgable and generous with their advice.

There is an abundant stock of
truly beautiful, high quality
vintage garments all lovingly
displayed, making it very easy
and pleasurable to browse.
Aliz Vintage boasts a fantastic array
of top designer dresses such as Chanel and YSL.
Wonderful unique outfits for the races!

Nichols & Co is tucked up in the rows on Bridge Street, Chester and is one of only three independents I found.  Its collection of tasteful, elegant garments has a strong sense of style with striking displays and enticing products.  Design direction and personality shine through this distinctly grown up boutique!

Elspeth Mills is an established boutique on Watergate Street, Chester which is one of three owned by its name sake.  It is a smart but relaxed and cosy shop which was in the middle of its sale period when I visited.  Clothes here were of a strong smart/casual style with some very chic fine knits.  Staff were very approachable and the owner took the unusual trouble of phoning to see if she could help me further with my research!

Caran D'ache is a well established favourite in the village of Tarporley.  You can find something a little out of the ordinary here and although prices reflect this, it not over expensive.
Pickwicks is fairly new to Tarporley, it is a welcoming, cheery shop with a wide variety of funky and subtly designed garments for the young or more mature and to suit all budgets. They have a branch in Nantwich and an online shopping service.

Follies of Tarporley, a long established popular boutique, was surprisingly full of customers for 4pm on a Thursday in January. The ladies working here were very friendly and helpful despite being so busy, they obviously have a great rapport with their clients and are a happy team. It is a beautiful shop with a strong signature style, stocking a range of clothes with a natural but arty twist, all featuring strong silhouettes. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Bottega, a must to the customer
seeking style with a  difference.
It also has a chic little cafe!

Bottega is very new to Tarporley,
it is a truly beautiful boutique with
a unique sense of style and personality.

It presents an eclectic collection of designs, some garments have a
hint of vintage and the overall styling has
a magical artisan feel.
